Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
Looking good, although I am hoping one of AMD's partners will make a blower version of the 6800, as that's what I need for my case.

So whats the stock situations looking like for these cards? A video online has just stayed they are pretty much non-existent, albeit not this part of the world. Perhaps a paper launch?

The only recent* third-party blower that comes to mind were those HIS IceQ from back when the 7950 was new:

Let's just hope the drivers and capacitors are up to snuff.

So, whats stock going to be like, also, will the AIB's overprice like they did with the NVidia stuff?

I still have one of those - the 7870 version any way. But HIS don't do them any more, sadly.
However, Gigabyte are readying a blower version of the 3090, and Asus did blower versions ("turbo") of the prior generation of Nvidia cards, so there's hope.
Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
Not good news from what I am gettings from several sources (mostly China)
I got literally: "do not expect to buy one, as miners got them all."
So because the miners preordered big lots, there will not be a lot to buy for ordinary users.
Quantity is higher than for Nvidia 30xx series, but the demand is even higher.
It seems AMD has again great cards for mining.
Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
I read somewhere that the AMD cards are no good for miners compared to the nvidia cards so why are miners wasting there money??
Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
So on 18th Nov are AMD reference design, on 25th Nov we should get custom designs from usual brands.
PS: The word on the (virtual street) is that the latest AMD card (I presume 6900XT)is 1.5x faster than 3090 in mining. I am just relaying the info.

I would expect that to be utter BS, AMD would definitely not want the bulk of their stock going to miners. This impedes their sellers selling whole systems and means their cards don't get out there and make a name for themselves for the first time since the 4000 series and relatively the r9 200 series.
It doesn't make sense to cut off your nose to spite your face for a quick buck during such a delicate release window which is trying to shoot the kneecaps off of Nvidia and show the world and their shareholders they're a big player in two markets.
Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
I thought reviewers had already said that these would be no good for mining due to the card's architecture being aimed more at games than general compute stuff?
Re: AMD intros new reference boards for RX 6800 and RX 6800 XT
Well either way, at least the reference design uses proper power connectors already available on a majority of PSUs. That's a design win as far as I'm concerned.
