Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
I hope it's fixed soon since I'm about to build a Ryzen 5800X system.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Not really noticed this with my Asrock Phantom Gaming X but thinking back, I do remember hearing one of my external devices doing the bonk disconnect/connect but I just thought nothing of it as its never happened when I've been actively using it.
But it's good they're being quite pro-active with the investigation.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Have they addressed the various problems with the Realtek RTL8125 2.5GbE LAN??

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
I get this on my x570 tomahawk. Devices disconnecting, sometimes mouse and keyboard not recognised. I thought I was going mad.

I thought it was the Intel LAN that was bokred  That's what nudged me towards a GB board over Asus :V

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Well if we have to talk about this, then i have also had my X399 board be fishy some times.
It is only a couple of days ago since my PC coughed up the new hardware sound, but no notification or anything about what happened just the sound.
I cant say i have experienced the USB ports not working, and i have used quite a few of the 10 ports it have.

I was considering getting a Gigabyte B550I mini-ITX motherboard to replace my Asus B450I Strix, but reading some of the Amazon reviews put me off. The B450I has an Intel GbE LAN which so far seems solid enough!

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Not experienced this on my x570-Plus Asus TUF board. It never seems particular happy with USB peripheral's when I move over my USB hub from my work PC however this is usually fixed by a quick power down of the hub and occasional disconnect of the mouse. My intel work machine has fewer issues with this but I figured that's more down to the peripheral's themselves than the chipset as they all behave a little differently. Its the logitech mouse that hates it the most and almost always needs pulling and reconnecting. Most of the rest just need the usb hub switched off and on.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
I've got two x570 machines and there is a device on each (android phone & mic array) that keeps disconnecting. I just assumed it was because of using longer possibly poor quality cables.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Don't have any problems with MSI B450 tomahawk plus...But was going to go for the B550 version (for the front panel USB C connector, and better rgb implementation) Glad i didn't now, until they fix these issues. Will probably wait for AM5 now anyway.

Hope that they get it all fixed soon.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
I've still got a z77 and a 3570K. I keep getting random USB disconnects that didn't previously happen. Methinks it's a Windows Feature release related problem.

Same, I'd been having issues for a while on a z77 + 3770k, USB disconnects randomly, I've had it happen a couple of times on my new system too b550 + 5800x, it could be a Windows "Feature"

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
no issues with x570 and win7, nor noticed any on win10 1809 with old early 2020 bios I'm rebuilding with new GPU so will see how that fares and compare 7/10 with more modern drivers

The fix is an intel nic. I doubt that will ever get fixed. It's been a fairly consistent problem with realtek since forever.

1809 is an unsupported windows build and has been for nearly a year! i.e. no security updates.

support ended Nov20, I haven't used win10 much in the interim. Not that much OOD tbh.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Was hoping to upgrade from i7 9700k to latest Ryzen but putting off until these issues are sorted...

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Never had this issue on my MPG x570 Gaming Edge fortunately. Running smoothly since I put a 3800x in last summer.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Same as many others: Multiple x570 systems here and not a single problem. One has 10+ USB devices attached and I can never remember a disconnect

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
Gigabyte X570 here and again never had an issue with USB, even over several BIOS updates. Nice to see them reaching out to the community to resolve issues, even if it is reddit.
Have had nothing but trouble with the 2.5Gb NIC though, the intel one works fine though.

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
I have strange issues with my 5800x B550, crashing, no BSOD, just restarts, after days of looking at it I'm quite sure it's the CPU power curve....(set it to fixed voltage and clock it's 100% stable) so there's things to be ironed out still... not had the usb issues lately too, could be related maybe.

Out of interest do you have ram set to xmp? If so try manually setting the voltage and timings. I know of a few cases where xmp was throwing the ram voltage too high and causing instability

I had a 2600X that did that. In Windows it would just occasionally restart, but in Linux the system logs were full of processor single bit fault recoveries in one of the cores. Double bit faults can't be recovered, so the CPU resets. I sent it back, an occasional bit flip happens which is why CPUs can correct them, but constant errors is a fault.
It might be worth firing up a live Linux distro on a USB stick, and looking in /var/log/messages (or /var/log/syslog on some) and google any scary looking errors.
Annoying that Microsoft hide this stuff from you on the desktop operating systems.

I tried both, I noticed xmp wasn't setting the timings properly so I ended up using the ram calculator and setting it manually anyway, benches are a little faster.

I'll have a look into that thanks.
Weirdly today I thought I would check for a bios update, then thought I would try the first bios that supported this 5800x, flashed it, now all seems good! no more crashing on stock settings, it seems any newer bios is unstable for some reason

Intel had the same problems with Z490 motherboards with Intel 2.5GbE LAN chips too!!

Re: AMD works with Reddit community on 500 series chipset USB issues
AMD has confirmed that AGESA update 1.2.0.2 is on the way to fix intermittent USB connectivity.
"We would like to thank the community here on r/AMD for its assistance with logs and reports as we investigated the intermittent USB connectivity you highlighted. With your help, we believe we have isolated the root cause and developed a solution that addresses a range of reported symptoms, including (but not limited to): USB port dropout, USB 2.0 audio crackling (e.g. DAC/AMP combos), and USB/PCIe Gen 4 exclusion.
AMD has prepared AGESA 1.2.0.2 to deploy this update, and we plan to distribute 1.2.0.2 to our motherboard partners for integration in about a week. Customers can expect downloadable BIOSes containing AGESA 1.2.0.2 to begin with beta updates in early April. The exact update schedule for your system will depend on the test and implementation schedule for your vendor and specific motherboard model. If you continue to experience intermittent USB connectivity issues after updating your system to AGESA 1.2.0.2, we encourage you to download the standalone AMD Bug Report Tool and open a ticket with AMD Customer Support."
