Well, exactly. My general experience of "recommendations" like this is that I rarely, if ever, agree with them. They are usually just a total waste .... for me. (*)
However, it is an opt-in system. On that proviso, I see no problem (providing it stays opt-in). Anyone that finds the recommendations useful can do so and the rest of us can trundle along as we were, deciding for ourselves.
That is to say, it's a feature of no interest to me, but provided it's not foisted on me whether I want it or not, it's also not a problem for me.
(*) As for Amazon's recommendations, I've never yet followd one, but some can be hilarious and a few jaw-droppingly weird, resulting in my reaction being "How the bleeeeep did they get to that?"

Heyyyy little friend do you want a cookie, maybe a ride in my van to the candy store.
I will have to pass on any recommendation engine, it is one of the things i hate the most.
Free will? What's that?
I remember my Kindle Fire tablets doing this automatically on Prime Video. The only time I watched anything was the week I moved home, and didn't have internet for a week. And the only thing worth watching was the Vin Diesel classic "The Last Witch Hunter". A film I'd never willingly force myself to watch... but got so bored I watched it. It was as expected... everything else it did download were utter trash.
This assumes you'll remember you turned it on. There are so many things I turn on, then forget, until a lot later!Secondly, the service is opt-in, so a user must be aware of the option and toggle it on to make use of it.
Having said that, I assume some users will know how to turn off downloading via mobile data, and used via wi-fi only. Right? Cause all mobile users are 100% tech savvy...

With a 1TB data cap here, I'm keeping that off.
I actually think this is a great idea, as somebody with unlimited date and 256gb internal storage this would probably encourage me to discover more shows/movies than if I were left to my own devices... trapped in a car etc. with limited internet, anything starts to look appealing...
