Exciting, although I'll never go back to Virgin until they start increasing their measly upload speeds. Currently on 900mbps down/up and never want to go back to waiting on things to upload!
I do miss my Virgin download speeds, my upload is a smidge quicker since we moved house and can't get Virgin anymore, but yes, synchronous speeds would be preferred![]()
I saw this on Twa....Twitter. The comment below it was a news article on how Virgin Media Broadband was having its third major outage in blah blah.
Rather glad the Virgin Atlantic stuff isn't run like this.
Just had a "free" upgrade to 600 meg...
To be fair, where I live we have had far less problems with Virgin than the other adsl and fibre offerings who have had major outages most weeks this year so far...
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Cries in 40 Mbps.
In an urban area in 2021.
Screw you, BT
I have to agree. VM have had two major outages in the last year for me. And they didn't even compensate me for it (I'm on direct debit, something I really need to reconsider). The last outage was for two weeks... constant connection losses or days without any internet at all. Was frustrating as hell, as my kids were going stir crazy without any internet as well. I do need to not be lazy and see what the alternatives are here.
Oh also, cost me about £10 to call customer service on my crappy pay-as-you go phone each time! Get a free service you idiots, people call CS for help!
Also in an urban area, was on 50Mbps then got the "free" upgrade to 100Mbps a couple years ago... then got a £4 increase in monthly billing starting this month. And my bills are on par with what a new customer pays for 100Mbps. They already increased it by £4.01 in Sept 2019. This was their excuse then:
I definitely saw the opposite of improvement since that last price change! Two outages! Looking forward to what this one will bring...Originally Posted by VM email to moi

And there's me with my 16mb/1mb lmao, it cant get any better due to where I am!, my phone 4g is faster lol
So I assume 400Gbps is just for their service altogether? So VM just flexing? Meaningless to me, unless the decide to pass it down to the customer... AND to not have it cost an arm and a leg. 100Mbps is already expensive imo...
Ah, OK. Well I technically live in an urban area in the south of England. I wonder if they want me to upgrade to 200Mbps before the next option opens up? If so, that seems a bit counter-intuitive!

If you live in an area with a max of say 500Mbps, they will offer you various speeds at various prices, you don't need to move up the speeds. If there is no higher option then thats the max for your area

Ok, well guess my area sucks for internet then. Thanks @Jonj1611

To be fair... I had no issue with the service running. I had no outages that i can remember. (although, during a weekday i wouldn't have noticed.)
But, when i cancelled with them they shut me off immediatly despite the fact that there's a one month notice period. Leaving me without internet for a month. (then they didn't understand the issue over the phone for too longe to be considered funny) They also lied to my Mother over the phone about billing prices and then over charged her.
