Re: UK government outlines its Ten Tech Priorities

Wow... if you run that through Google's Bullrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish to English translator it says...

    1. We're giving the telecoms industry billions of your money to increase speeds by upto 25%... but the signal will be rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish.
    2. Increase the amount of data Google collects on you.
    3. Create businesses for Google & Apple to buy.
    4. A renewed commitment to persecute people 'accused' copyright infringement.
    5. Some areas in the South need better broadband.
    6. Means nothing.
    7. We'll buy the data from Google for spying on you.. for your safety.
    8. Nothing again.. or are they selling a new digital washing powder?
    9. We'll do whatever the US tech industry wants.
    10. We are adding NOTHING. The net result of this will be zero.

Or get a similar effect by writing out some random numbers for the meaningless part and setting fire to a tree to mimic the carbon footprint involved.

There are no words to describe my thoughts on this. At least not without expletives, which I shall refrain from.

When it comes to 5G & gigbit internet I think someone needs to explain to the govt the difference between "nationwide" and "wealthy urban areas" because there ae still plenty of places round here that can't get 4G or anything faster than ADSL.

The most important point has been missed: Bigger bribes, sorry donations to the Tory party, will yield the most generous funding.

Re: UK government outlines its Ten Tech Priorities

I love how broad some of these are: "build a tech-savvy nation" and "unlock the power of data" have me rolling around. Someone actually had to come up with that!
