That means the new gen tegra will have Tensor cores, that's actually pretty neat. DLSS on the switch actually makes a ton of sense to me so the switch when docked can do an effective upscale.

I might finally consider an upgrade from the Gamecube (which is still ace!)

Will it still come with joycons that stop working after 3 months of casual use?

Re: Nintendo Switch 2021 model update to leverage DLSS

I got a switch pretty early to play Zelda/Mario but ultimately its just ended up sat there. The games are just too expensive. I won't be upgrading.

    Laptop : Dell Inspiron 1545 with Ryzen 5500u, 16gb and 256 NVMe, Windows 11.

Unfortunately all the upgrades listed above aren't going to be free. The games are just too expensive and I won't be upgrading too!

Mostly gathering dust for a long time now as well (although Stardew has had a coop mode adding so playing the odd evening with other half). If you have another console then anything cross platform is generally cheaper elsewhere. Not much use of the handheld mode with lockdown atm!

Re: Nintendo Switch 2021 model update to leverage DLSS

Just bought a switch for my son, I've been telling the wife to wait, but she finally went and got one anyway. To my horror, discovered that games can only be played online if you have a Nintendo online account. They can kiss my shiny arse if they think I'm going to pay a fee every month to play Among Us which is completely free on android!

Absolutely, it's on every day in our house and getting an upgrade or likely a second one is high up the priority list (unless some mass bot buying ruins things)

Re: Nintendo Switch 2021 model update to leverage DLSS

DLSS seems to work best at higher resolution settings,as the upscaling algorithms work best with more base date. Not sure how its going to look when using the Switch SOC if they are trying to upscale something like 720P or 1080P to 4K.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2021 model update to leverage DLSS

The trouble with the console like this is a price/quality, a bit money for hardware, but too much for the games. Can't think to pay for this quality after having an experience with cheaper AAA titles on a good laptop, but it is probably a good choise for casual games when travelling. But when you are at home because of the self-isolation for 2 weeks, it is better to game on laptop.

I'm yet to be convinced of the benefit of console gaming at 4k. I remember working out the distances/screen sizes for my ye olde plasma TV and basically 1080p was right on the edge of being noticeable at my sofa distance - to notice 4k I'd have to get a screen massively bigger, or move a lot closer than would be comfortable. If the switch can output 1440p from 720 or 1080 native then that's going to be more than enough for me (if I upgrade my TV).

I'll consider it but probably not this year given the current PC building lol. Really do love the switch, though I haven't been using it enough. Find the joycons kept separate to be even more comfortable than a normal controller.

If you're travelling a nintendo DS is far superior. Especially if you get one of those 208in1 cartridges for a tenner from amazon...

    From rtings:
I don't disagree myself, but the issue which I believe both Gamersnexus and Hardware Unboxed have point out,is that DLSS works best when there is a higher quality input image. I am uncertain with the Switch will do so well, because even if its qHD,the TVs will have to upscale it to 4K too,ie,two lots of upscaling.
