Re: Microsoft: help us choose the new default Office font

It might be down to screen res and size but when I saw this in the thread list, the last word was missing, so it read

"Microsoft: help us choose the new default Office"

My immediate thought was 'They sure did. Several years ago. They helped me chhose Libre Office".

I guess that last word changes it a bit. Well, not my choice of Office, but the thread subject. Oops.

Re: Microsoft: help us choose the new default Office font

There's things I do and don't like about each, but none of them are an ideal combination of serifs, loops, weight and letter spacing/kerning (in my opinion)

Microsoft just know they are all sub standard and want to blame the community for choosing a bad font, that they have probably already settled on anyway.

It's hard not to be cynical about it isn't it? What's wrong with calibri anyway? There are far worse fonts out there. Still, change is good. The shift from TNR was welcome, it may be this is similar.

Seaford gets my vote, but why does the italic 'f' sit below the base line when the normal version does not?!

Re: Microsoft: help us choose the new default Office font

This would be a shame, I really like Calibri...really nice looking font IMO. They have a recent history of making poor front end/UI style changes though (*cough* metro *cough*) so I guess this keeps the trend going

Seaford gets my vote too, despite the odd letter that goes below the line as mentioned above.

It's a good job they aren't just asking for suggestions, fairly sure Comic Sans would be the top choice.

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

    Really?

The demonstration sentence is supposed to be:

The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog

The whole point behind that sentence is that it uses every standard English letter. If you change it to "jumped" instead of "jumps", you don't have an s in there anywhere.
