3770k overclocked and undervolted, 3080 undervolted and underclocked.
The 5800X I've got is the first CPU since Pentium2 that I keep at stock levels (for now).
All others, for close to 20 years were OC'd since day 1.
All my rigs have been water-cooled for the last decade for that purpose.
My gpu is in the same water loop as the Ryzen, and it's OC'd to absolute limits (may the gods be praised for a peach of a unit of Aorus 1080Ti Waterforce WD flying over 2k).
Oh, yeah almost forgot: RAM (Samsung B-die) is running C14@3600Mhz, so it can be considered overclocking.

I buy a faster processor than I need and underclock if I can. It results in a quieter PC.
My 4770k does benefit from an OC (4.4Ghz) .I agree most "modern" processors prolly dont need a overclock to do the things most people do with there computers nowadays.
Like some other commenters, I prefer a quiet computer. So, no overclocking for me.
Not anymore.
With the automation of overclocking based on the cores that actually need it, I no longer see any benefit.
I still water-cool, but that's purely about noise & aesthetics as the pc is right next to me mounted on the wall.

3770K @ 4.3 GHz since 2012
Nope, my PC was built by Scan and was overclocked (small kids in the house, so didn't want to risk accidental damage). But a couple of crashes later, I decided to turn the overclock off. I think it turned off by itself actually, and I didn't notice a difference.
My games and programs run fine... so don't see any point in over-volting my components un-necessarily!

Ideally I want my kit to last, and overclocking tends to shorten life#. Plus it does everything I need it to.
In that case, yes.
But the gains are minimal. I used to get a CPU, determine the max stable OC when I got it and then pop it back to stock. When things started to slow down, I'd apply the OC as a stop gap whilst I started looking for a new CPU. These days, that approach isn't going to work, but I am more dependent on number of cores, rather than outright frequency for now.
Not any more. I've got a 24-core Ryzen 3960X. With two radiators just for the CPU, I still get 70°C when encoding. I'd only have room for a minor boost so not worth it.
The picture at the top of this forum gave me an idea. Need a new firepit for the garden and have several ancient CPU cases in the loft. All they need is the side off and some legs.
My CPU? No. My GPU (RTX 2080 Ti)? I've toyed with it. With RAM I enable XMP / DOCP and that's it.
My Ryzen 3900x is almost impossible to overclock. With a bios update for my motherboard Gigabyte Aorus Ultra I think the stock performance (everything set to Auto) was boosted.
