Meanwhile, Intel is perfecting their 14 nm process.

I think this is different from what IBM is doing. If i'm not mistaken, IBM achieved 2nm equivalent transistor density, not 2nm process. TSMC is talking about moving to 1nm process and beyond

Both are great and I can't wait for them to start sharing notes and combining both things

So ? How are we going to clamp our possessor coolers down, something so fine must be delicate too.

I remember my OMG moment when we moved to 90 nm :)

It's very different. IBM made a 2nm silicon chip. The "process" (for volume manufacturing) doesn't exist yet. It may have taken months to produce a few chips.

TSMC and others have been experimenting with MoS2, a material that is a candidate for replacing silicon, and have achieved favourable electrical characteristics. However, as I understand it, they haven't yet produced a transistor of any size on this material.

That great unless you need the special materials that only come from China, Good job but it going to fail sooner or later if we go to war with China.
