Title should be "Expect an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, 3080 Ti launch on 31 May but don't expect to be able to buy one this year"

The whole GPU situation is so bad, I am genuinely considering ditching PC's after 22years. Many I have spoken to feel the same way. Retailers and manufacturers need to get a grip pronto or many will simply walk away and spend their money elsewhere.

Available to buy 31st May 2023...

The question now becomes to I want to actually buy an LHR card, as I've said before, I understand why they are limiting the hash rate, but for a single card user at home what harm is there in mining when you arent gaming..

    "Available to buy 31st May 2023 "

By then heavily discounted and almost at 2021 MSRP price, but only to make room for the 5070 - 5080 - 5090 which have hash rates off the hook according to rumors.

Demand is such a massively insane difference to supply I don't think retailers and manufacturers will ever worry. It'd have to be a sudden seismic shift all at once.

The massive majority will just wait it out, especially those with "good enough" rigs. Do we wanna upgrade ? Of course. But refuse to pay over retail, and knowing it'll eventually get better. I don't know your current hardware situation but I gotta imagine losing PC gaming altogether will suck more than having to wait on an upgrade for a bit

And where are they expecting to spend their money, exactly?

There's a shortage of chips all over the planet. GPU makers want them, phone makers want them, car makers want them, defence contractors want them, just about every electronic gadget maker wants them... even some very well known brands have had to completely halt production because there just aren't enough chips with which to make products.
Last I heard, lead time on chips was about 40 weeks, and that's with all the extra manufacturing capability those companies added in.

Mid-2023 is when things will (or rather, are forecast to) have lessened. Mid-2022 you should see chip availability start to pick up, so long as there are no more fires in factories or anything, and once they start to reach their customer, then the stuff you want will have to be made.

Until then, there simply is no 'elsewhere' to go.

Re: Expect an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, 3080 Ti launch on 31 May

Well my new "toy" dont have a single chip in it, and i still have to wait 2 - 3 months to get it.
And then when i get it, well seem like there is also a ammo shortage so even lead are in short supply it seem, or everyone are just shooting like a SOB

I have decided ( not due to hardware situation ) to delay my case project for next gen hardware, so just have a little work i can play with it to make it ready for final install.
In which case tube routing and cable routing ASO all have to wait as it must be tailored to the hardware, so in general i can finish the outside look, and a little of the inside work though some holes ASO of course will have to wait.

This will be a while as i need to save money, for almost a entire new hardware ( DDR 5 + mobo + CPU + GPU ) i think i can manage on my 850 W PSU but probably also have to pick up a few new Nvme drives.

This mean i have a EK cooler for my 5700XT in surplus ( red devil ) CUZ not bothering putting it in line in the temporary setup i have in the Lian Li case.

Their bestests clients... the miners is thrilled, as nvidia, start to sell directly to them overpriced at all as well as a ghost release of a dongle v.2 variant to enable mining on mining 'nerfed' cards.

Perhaps people are prepping for the apocalypse. That has always seemed silly, but after the last year it feels like anything could happen...

Could be any number of places. New furniture, decoration, renovation, the garden, a risky holiday perhaps. Doesn't have to be a gadget...

Retailers seemingly don't have as much of an issue getting hold of cards to sell in pre-built systems though.

But you can't game on a lawnmower... !!
Besides, there will still be people with money around for when the ratio of production to availability is back up to normal levels. Go buy whatever you like, you'll just have to join the back of the queue again later on... Manufacturers don't give a toss.

Yes, because GPU makers are massively ramping up production levels. They're even posting record profits, so they're clearly making plenty of money despite the shortages...
    https://nvidianews.nvidia.com/news/n...nd-fiscal-2021

The biggest problem is not primarily in production, but in the fact that so many more people than ever before are all wanting these chips.
GPUs are limited in supply, so it makes more sense to sell a £3,000 pre-built with a £700 GPU instead of just the GPU on its own.
