Microsoft already said that Windows 10 was the last version of Windows ever, so 11 sounds like they would be going back on what they said before, 10X always sounded a bit of a stretch, but they did already say that they cancelled that and are merging it, so is it just a more formal announcement of the 10X merge or 11 or something completely different? Will be watching anyway

Agreed...

...although it probably sounds better to software developers pondering whether they should bring some of their Android / iOS apps to the Windows Store. Ad-funded apps are the main/only income stream for many mobile-first software houses.

I think I prefer the old shareware / trialware model for (PC) software to the ad-supported model favoured today on mobile devices.

Dont get me wrong, windows aside for DOS are the only OS i have used and so have any experience with, and even windows me and vista was good to me, and i know a lot of people like to hate on those.
My issues are mainly in the way they want people to use the software, with all kinds of new approaches, but none of these i like to i have to spend a good half hour cleaning up windows after a install.
I wish there was a "make my windows look and function like win XP" button i could toggle and be dont with all the fluff.

I've found it to far less stable as Win7 and that it doesn't work as well with hardware that worked fine on Win7?

I've no experience of a Mac's stability and other than fixing one once for someone, I frankly don't want any more experience of them!

Iv'e said it before on the insider group that Microsoft really needs to kick some backsides in the windows 10 dev team, I'm guessing no a single change will help my windows experience but some might hinder it.

Well MS love to flog dead horses. I mean they are still trying to make people use Bing, not to mention the Windows Store. I'm suprised they haven't bought Stadia off Google.

I have low expectations. There tends not to be much more I'd expect an OS to do. Also concerned for there to be privacy concerns as we seem to be moving towards a more connected future. While people hated on it, I actually quite liked vista and what it brought to computing. Other than windows 7 essentially improving up that, there isn't really anything else that has interested me from OS updates.

I dread to think , every new implementation seems to get worse. The most reliable and simplist operating system for my PC's is the on and off switch at the wall socket.
