Just a shame very few new housing developers are requesting FTTC let alone FTTP services from Openreach.

Re: Openreach shares list of 551 FTTP rollout locations

BT FTTP... nope still not on the list, comically though I've had lightspeed (small regional fttp isp) installing their fttp stuff outside my house a few weeks ago with it planned to go live by the end of the year in 10 towns, knowing my luck it won't be in my village even though it's on route between two of the towns it mentions and I can literally touch the branded sign on the telegraph post lol.

As to mobile roaming... wouldn't be shocked if this is a money grab rather than a change to any rules/costs, data charges are already too high on mobile to start with.

given the fact some mobile networks are owned or have european versions i find it hard to believe its not just for profit.

Could this be linked to Covid and working from home? Save that environment etc!

Re: Openreach shares list of 551 FTTP rollout locations

my area is "to be built by april 2025" . So only 4 years away (once the inevitable delays are factored in). 4 years when much of the infrastructure is already in place. Ridiculous. You never know they may better that, but I shan't hold my breath.

Re: Openreach shares list of 551 FTTP rollout locations

The list is already out of date, or there's at least one typo.

My home town (In the "Market towns & villages" section) has a "Yes" under "Build Delivery Phase 21/22 – December 2026", but it should be under "Programme(Exchange) Build Complete*".

That, or I'll be talking to a very confused OpenReach engineer on Monday, when he comes to switch my line to FTTP

    Wrong news article?

Much of this is workforce-limited. Many areas will be in the same position, but someone has to physically come and install it, which takes man hours. Openreach and their contractors are working flat-out and it will take time to cover the country.

It won't be listed as build complete unless the whole exchange area is complete in a previous time window. The CBT install doesn't always mean it's available to order, or at every address, either.

Absolutely no surprise to see they're targeting high density residential areas locally to pad their numbers. Also no surprise that where I live is left off the list.

Yup same for me. One of my mates got fttp last week.
My property is 0.1 miles from the exchange. it is in the next street.
Ironically the exchange is closer than my current cabinet for fttc.

From a business perspective, certainly. From an infrastructure laying perspective, it's very slapdash when you can build out from one point.

I live in High Wycombe - a very high density residential area. High Wycombe is not on the list. However, all the tiny little villages surrounding Wycombe are on the list! Makes no sense.
    Maybe 2030?
