Tool less access to the M.2 SSD, and 300g weight reduction are the main changes.

A sixpence, what year is this?!

Bill of materials.
I guess the heatsink is a good candidate for the 300g reduction but that would surely mean some kind of improved design or reduction in power of some parts. We need someone to open one up!

Smaller heatsink..

Runs quieter, couple of degrees hotter on the exhaust and used a few more W from the wall. Not of this was very scientific though so I'd like to see another comparison from other outlets.
It says that it's a "worse" cooling solution as the exhaust temp is hotter but given the same components doesn't a hotter exhaust suggest that it's pushing away MORE heat (which is a good thing?)

That's the exact same thought I have, more heat out the back more efficient but maybe its that its hotter because its built up more inside the PS5 before being expelled from the exhaust??.

He:
- Measured the sound level by putting a sound level meter without a windshield in the exhaust from the PS5
- Measured the exhaust temp by pointing an infrared camera at the exhaust - no attempt to control for emissivity and not even measuring the exhaust air temp
It could be the new one has a slower fan (which would give hotter air in the exhaust as there's less mass to dump heat into), or it could be a more efficient heatsink (as the heatsink parts by the exhaust were hotter). Either way, we need someone competent to find out the actual differences
