Edit: Ugh, the icon changes. Why can't they just stick to one icon for status stuff. YMMV.
It's definitely switched on... Just not sure it's doing anything, for some reason. I'll try again tonight, see if turning off 4G does anything.

Galaxy S10+, with stupidly fast fibre, but still nowhere near as good as my Vodafone 4G.
Calls still cut out, or don't come through, just slightly less than previously.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. Either get a normal or e-sim for local country = no roaming charges. Probably be cheaper.

Either that or turn your phone off if you're on holiday? If you're working, your company should be paying towards this...

    Just to clarify:

"Something that was chargeable, but then become no longer a chargeable thing through agreements and the EU-UK interface of technologies etc and now suddenly we've gone back a decade and no one knows if it'll return ever again."

Addendum Edit: And was promised it wouldn't change (even though the sensible among us knew it must do), that's the crux.

You know what, I want to enjoy myself, I don't want to live in my decrepit bubble of the UK. I want to see the shores of Majorca or the alpine slopes of Salzburg, I want to get attacked by a Boxer fish on the Australian reef and I have a limited number of years my body will allow me to enjoy all these things to the fullest.

Politely, get stuffed with that attitude.

But didn't need to be an issue, given "goodwill" on both sides. It was probably predictable that that was likely to be in short supply, at least for a while.

Personally, given all the other issues, this strikes me as a mild itch on a pimple on the elephant's backside that is the overall picture, even if it is one many users get to experience up close and directly.

Do you have any evidence that at least a significant numbers of those protesting are serial fly all over the place people?

Well, it is something which comes up whenever people think about resource usage.

Far too many questions, really once you get started thinking about it:
    1. Are human in general using up more resources than are replenished?
    2. Even if they were not, is it right to dedicate 100% of those resources solely for humans and their livestock?
    3. Are there people who use too much?
    4. What is a fair share?
    5. If one person or even one country reduces its ecological footprint, will it do any good if everybody else / all the other countries do nothing or even increase their resources?

Like I said, lots of questions and no easy answers.

While money is not ideal, I agree that - especially - aviation fuel should be taxed heavily. But like other 'green' taxes which should try to change behaviour, they should only be levied if their proceeds are ring-fenced into alternatives etc. (Although planes running on renewable is a very long way off.)

Re: Three UK announces £2 a day EU roaming charge

It's not even leisure travel for me - I usually have to travel a lot for work, but of course, need to use my personal phone while doing so for non-work related stuff like family, hence these kind of charges sting me. Oh well - if a competitor comes out as not ripping people off (ok that might be a bit strong, but they are taking advantage to charge significantly more than actual costs) then they'll get my business.

My bigger issue is the quandry of taxing the people "to drop ecological footprint" when it has been shown many times that the people are not the biggest cause of ecological footprint directly. Sure, their capitalistic consumption of goods and gorging of foods certainly contribute but really, the big businesses and corporate entities need to be needled about making their production, transportation and manufacturing methods more ecologically friendly. Especially in "third" world countries where laws are very lax in preventing bad things from happening.

Economies of scale are something that always have to be considered, one person not travelling via plane isn't going to make a difference but a million not travelling will and same in reverse.

However, we also have to live.
