I don't blame you, only today there was news about MI5, MI6 and GCHQ giving a contract to Amazon web services to store the data they've been gathering on all of us.
It's bad enough that they're treating everyone as guilty but to then store all that data with a company who i go out of my way to avoid is beyond the pale, sure AWS have probably signed a contract that says they won't use that data for their own purposes but i trust them and our own government about as far as i can throw them.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
I wouldn't say I lead a particularly sheltered life, but I haven't even heard of any of those sites.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
I've not looked at movies for years. Thanks for the links I guess.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
Those sites also new to me, and i assume will always be open to anyone with e VPN.
When i stopped seeing videos regularly those you still had to rent on a VHS tape
Dont really matter now as i threw out my TV over a year ago, what there is to see on that devise are either making you more stupid ( i can not afford that ) or it is just too expensive ( and as a Dane on early retirement i also can not afford that )

They're still around - just mainly blocked by the big ISPs.
Virgin Media maintains a handy bookmark list, once you've turned youy VPN on - https://www.virginmedia.com/help/list-of-court-orders

just cuz they are on AWS servers, doesn't mean AWS could read the data. AWS will effectively be providing the storage space, ie. an HDD online and the data will be in an encrypted database format and require logins and passwords etc, so even if someone at AWS could see the drive, they wouldn't be able to understand the data without the login details
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
That's certainly assuaged my fears because it's not like unencrypted government data has ever been left on a train, sold at auction, CDs got lost in the post, found at contractors homes or simply gone missing.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
Does this judgement mean that extreme and offensive, and often illegal, content from the likes of Facebook, Twitter etc. etc. will be the responsibility of ISP's? /s

No, it has nothing to do with that.
It's an entirely seperate subject but IMO it the only oned responsible for content on any social media platform should be the platform themselves and the user who posted it.
If I start attacking people with a cattle prod connected to the mains it wouldn't be the electricity companies fault for selling me a supply.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
Ah the good old Media Mafia still abusing their position in the market to use Police to investigate Civil matters and have the courts throw down more blocks.
Nice to be the big boys in the market isn't it? Police at your beck and call for those nasty pirates.
Shame that it took Apple to bully them into doing proper song downloads. But that hasnt stopped them trying to constantly sell new formats so you have to rebuy your music/videos/dvds again and again. Dont you dare rip cds and format shift. (still illegal here in the uk)
Fark the media mafia.
Also. Fark Disney and china. Its already digitally censoring films. Don't you dare mention Taiwan (TopGun 2). You want the original starwars? nope. Deleted now.
When the world is digital and you are the streaming site. Original film releases can be "corrected" as per the whim of the day. 1984 was suppose to be a warning. Not a farking guidebook.
Re: Major UK ISPs ordered to block five pirate streaming sites
The needle is swinging back towards piracy due to profiteering. I would love to buy F1TV so I could legitimatly watch the Forumla 1, but it's not available in the UK. The only option is giving Sky a stupid amount of money, so pirate stream it is.
I've also gone back to maintaining an offline music collection, due to songs vanishing at random from streaming services.
