Glad to see the new website is born...though I'm more of a 8088 generation rather than 386!

Or where apostrophes go, even [OP] Plus ça change.

Glad to have it confirmed that GD &c will stay in its current form; if I tried to move now bits would fall off me, like old fixtures & fittings.

Higher PM limit seconded plz, if anyone fancies giving us a parting gift.

Mods are easy - we are just volunteers and not employed by HEXUS so nothing changes.

As far as I know, unchanged. If you are, you still are. If you aren't, you still aren't. Until the team (of admins) change things up. As far as I know, which is more or less what everyone knows, it carries on unchanged.

More meaning will there be more/less/the same to do, going by Ferral's comment?

Solely on the mod front, that just depends on forum post rate. Crystal ball gazing, I'd expect the cessation of Hexus articles to mean fewer discussions are started, and fewer new users as well. Spam farms don't care and will continue to bulk sign up and attempt to trash the place, which is where 90% of my effort goes behind the scenes. But perhaps the loss of tech website will also come with a reduction in Google ranking so maybe we'll be targeted marginally less.

Ferral was not a mere mod though.

    Pah, 68000 all the way!

I wonder what the age cutoff is where people start going "What's a 386 then". But then I guess the site wouldn't be aimed at them

Re: Cheer up! It’s not the end of the world…

Have we got a new forum to go to then?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

We'll strive to uphold the core values of what made HEXUS so dear to us. You can be assured of unbiased reporting, in-depth reviews, and thoughtful analysis on all things tech.

Our passion for the industry remains as strong as ever, and we'd love to have all of you along for the ride.

    Take care, everyone.
I had been aware of Patreon for quite a while, but this is what finally got me to register for it (and then subscribe).

With the end of HEXUS, I felt it especially important to support the new site.

I've always steered clear of patreon. "Please pay me for doing something I was doing anyway?" Why? We still get served the same adverts either way etc. If you want a paid site, make it paid, but it just seems an odd half-way house where some people pay and others get the same content for free.

I was *wondering, how feasible would it be to post new topics in the news section here linking to club386 articles as a temporary measure, at least then people could discuss news and reviews.

*IDK how or what permissions are needed for starting new threads in the news section of the forum.

I'd say it depends upon each creator, as while there are definitely some people that really shouldn't be asking for support on there, there are plenty of people offering something worthy of it and offering benefits in exchange, it's simply up to each individual to decide whether they feel it is worth it to subscribe to each creator.

Some creators might be offering content earlier than usual for subscribers (although I'm sure that particular decision has a balancing act of its own too), others may offer extra content exclusively for subscribers, some may simply decide it's an easier way to offer content via Patreon rather than directly, and some may simply see it as an "if you feel like it" income stream (that again, may be easier via Patreon rather than directly).

Only each creator can actually say what their own reasoning is (and what benefits they feel they can provide if applicable), but I expect at this very early stage of Club386, whatever money can be brought in is especially important.
