    AVerMedia showcases PCIe TV Tuners

Earlier this weekn in Taiwan, Intel held a Developer Forum. A week or so ago, Ryszard made a news post announcing that AVerMedia would be showcasing their latest TV Tuner products, including a PCIe tuner looking a little something like this:

So, as expected, AVerMedia have issued a press release.
The new AverTV PCI Express Dual (M1A3) also demonstrated at the Intel Developer Forum, employs two TV Tuners which allow users to watch one channel while recording another simultaneously. The M1A3 also incorporates two hardware video encoders reducing the loading onto the CPU. You can simply watch TV without any interruption whilst working on a PC.
The number of people dabbling in PVRs is rapidly growing, as is the uptake on PCs in the living room in general, so a move like this should help AVerMedia secure a portion of the tuner market.

    Read the full press release.

I saw Ryszard's article, looked at this and thought "Hmmm...they're really betting on a) HDTV, and b) people looking for pure-play HTPCs with no gaming etc planned.". If it's got DVI out and there's no need for anything other than HTPC functions, then you're not going to care if it takes up your only PEG slot. I suppose the question is "What's driving the DVI out?". Looks like fun anyway.
