Averatec have launched two new laptops, named 1000 and 4200. Their press department are having a field day, issuing four press releases:
Colourful: Averatec aims at breaking open the notebook market
Averatec brings a breath of fresh air to the retail channel
Averatec 1000: The new standard for ultra portables
Averatec 4200: Colour for the people
As a very general overview, the 1000 is an ultra portable with a 10.6" widescreen. A Pentium M sits at the heart of the machine, ensuring ample battery life.
The 4200 series features a 13.3" screen, but isn't that much bigger than a 12" notebook, according to Averatec. You get a 1.6Ghz Pentium M, half a gig of RAM and an 80GB hard disk too.
Both series of laptops will be available in a variety of colours, initially surfacing in 'jet blue' and 'burgundy red' with more to follow.
From the 1st May onwards, anybody who buys one of these laptops can register on the Averatec website, the first thousand registrants will receive Phoenix FiretWare Recover Pro free.
