    Computer Games in the Classroom

    Enough of educational software for schools. Get the kids playing games!
    The use of computer games in education is going to be tested out in four secondary schools in the UK.

    The project aims to find ways in which school teachers can include video games in their teaching.

    It will also be trying to help game developers learn about potential educational uses for their products.
    Let's get GTA: SA in the classrooms. Learn 'em when they're young!

    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Well would you look at that, backed by EA.

    Just after they have been slammed by EGM and NYT for producing constant sequels (25 out of 26 games for this year are sequels)

    You don't need games like this for teaching.

    I've seen kids in a comprehensive who have never had any desire to learn languages have fun playing simpler games which my mum produced using a piece of software called taskmagic.

    The games which involve teamplay seem to be the most popular.

    Waste of money IMHO.

    They could use HL2 to demonstrate forces in physics lessons.

    Much more fun than the old 70's open university video's that we were forced to watch with dodgy flares and even dodgier flaired collared shirts.

    I love those videos and the cheapo music thats in them

    Personally i think it will fall through, more discipline in school will be needed first, and this might just detract from the teachers power.

    EA, a game which isn't a sequel of another or a generic sports game, w00t!

    Teamplay would promote teamwork in the classroom and help prevent anti-social behaviour in the class room and possibly outside which would help quite a bit, it'll also help (obviously) teamwork skills .

    It is a waste of money, but it's hard to get children to pay attention and learn in class nowadays. Or it seems to be at my school anyway (no, I don't goto a crappy school, our average exam grades are "Well above average" according to an ofsted report).
