    Civilization IV Hands-on @ ActionTrip

With Nick boogying on down in Taipei, doing hardware related articles, it's only fair that I make the occasional gaming post to keep you .game-news folks happy.

So, when Uros from Actiontrip e-mailed me with an e-mail title of "Civilization IV Hands-on" I yelled "hell YES!" I'm afraid I'm not even kidding. Rarely do I play turn based games like this, but CIV III had me hooked and no doubt CIV IV will too.
The new Civilization brings the familiar concept of playing the leader of a nation of your choice and securing your position in the world by peaceful and/or military expansion and technological advancement, covering the usual period from 4000 BC to 2050 AD. This time, the game will introduce some minor changes, which are mostly cosmetic in nature, such as replacing the shields needed for building objects or units by hammers. However, the fourth Civilization game will also bring some important innovations, which will significantly influence the game play and even alter to a degree the basic concept of the game.
Point your browser over to ActionTrip for a little look. Fingers crossed our very own Mr. Haywood will be getting a look at this in the near future.

Quoted for truth. Will be interesting to see how this new one plays though, sure looks good (bar those units, which need to be about 1/4 of the size. ugh)

yes civ2 was the better player, civ3 just a graphics job and a few other bits. a rip off really. i will get civ4 being a fan of this type of game but i will be waiting for it to hit £9.99 shelf this time.

CIV2 was bliss, many a night were lost nuking the americans and sending my workers to depollute the surronding areas

CIV4 however will hopefully be as good if not better, I missed CIV3 due to Half-Life and Championship Manager lol but maybe i can bring back the dictator in me!
