Watercooling From Gigabyte

Tom's Hardware is reporting that Gigabyte, best known for making motherboards, is taking a dive into the deep-end of system cooling by introducing a watercooling system.

The kit includes an additional fan that can extend the lifespan of capacitors in the vicinity of the CPU, according to the manufacturer. The water pump of the 3D Galaxy offers a ceramic shaft to improve reliability and push the life expectancy level to 20,000 hours. Among the unique features of the system is a low-water level monitor that powers the system down if the water level falls below the standard mark or the temperature gets too high.

There are a lot of watercooling kits available on the market now, and the general feeling among many enthusiasts is that they're not as good as a custom built setup. In fact in some cases air cooling can do a better (albeit noisier) job. Still, we'll have to wait and see how Gigabyte's 3D Galaxy performs. If their 3D Cooler Ultra GT is anything to go by, however, they might be able to put something decent together.
