Java will soon turn 10, and this week is the Java One conference in San Francisco. During the conference Sun will open up the code to its Java Application Server and Java Enterprise Service Bus in an attempt to increase use of Java-based programs.
Keller said the growth of Java in the marketplace is one of the reasons Sun is opening up the source code for the applications. Keller said that there are about 700 million personal computers and 708 million handsets worldwide that use Java, and that the next generation of home DVD players will be Java-enabled.
