I'd never have thought EBay started up in 1995, but look at how it changed the world. Anyone can flog anything, thanks to EBay, and you're always within easy reach of a good scam. CNN investigate whether ebay has "lost its allure".

Jewelry dealer Michael Jansma used to be one of eBay Inc.'s biggest cheerleaders.

The entrepreneur from Largo, Florida, sells roughly $250,000 worth of baubles every month on the auction site. But the revenue Jansma gets from eBay has declined over the past year, and in January the company raised fees, denting his profits.

Interesting reading - nochex have added their own auction site as well - but with paypal so integrated into ebay now, i wonder who still uses nochex? Amazon marketplace seems like a good alternative if you're unhappy with ebay.
