    HEXUS.review:: Battlefield 2

    Electronic Arts' latest installment in the Battlefield series gets a run through the HEXUS.gaming boot camp to see if it's all that it can be. One of Battlefield 2's new additions is the commander and squad team play, which bring a whole new aspect to the game.
    The comms channel system works exceptionally well in forcing players to work together with their squad and adds a hint of realism in the way the chain of command works in a real army. Used well, it’s an absolute joy to play in any position and any class. A well balanced squad, properly supported by their commander is damn near invincible, and with the ability for a dead squad member to spawn wherever his squad leader is, they soon become almost like an independent, powerful unit capable of taking on anything on the map.

    True, it isnt the games fault at all.... but... it can ruin your fun for you if you get muppets in there.

    For example, today, after a massively hard slog, my squad finally made it to the MEC base and set about planting explosives on the command trailer. I'm playing as a medic as usual, we're all taking cover from a sniper behind the trailer as our Special Ops guy peppers the thing with explosives.

    The next thing we know, some total muppet has set two charges, legged it off and before we could scatter, he blows the thing up, taking 5 players out in one hit.

    On the comms we had agreed we'd pop smoke, scatter from the trailer and then meet up behind a wall to blow it once we were all out of harms way and away from the sniper... in one fell swoop this muppet wiped out the entire squad.

    He then went on to fire at anything at all regardless of you being in the way and eventually all the guys I was teamed with left the server, so 's1duk.1t', cheers, you're a pratt.

    Oh yes, doing the 'charge and leg it' works fine... but these guys we were up against were very organized too. One or two snipers, an antitank guy and a medic for sure... I think there was a support dude in there too as the laid on some serious suppresing fire at times.

    Which made fighting our way to their command trailer all the more satisfying... and all the more annoying, when we all got TK'd.
