40 year old woman admits selling dodgy GBA carts

Following an investigation by Birmingham City Council Trading Standards Department and games industry trade body ELSPA, a Birmingham woman has been cuaght importing counterfeit GBA games and selling them on EBay for full price.

Following a tip off from a customer who realised they had a fake cart, ELSPA's Internet investigator subsequently made a series of test purchases from the woman's eBay page. Trading Standards officers, in conjunction with ELSPA then raided her Sutton Coldfield home and discovered a large amount of dodgy GBA game cartridges, the majority of which were Nintendo 'Mario' titles.

EBay records showed she had conducted almost 400 transactions over a period of 12 months. The woman had been importing the cartridges from Hong Kong, and bringing them into the UK through Coventry airport. She then sold the games for between £10-£25, making herself a hefty profit. The woman made a full and frank admission when interviewed. The case now continues.

They should throw the book at her - the battery back up on these carts fail after a month or so meaning you can't save. (I bought a dodgy Mario kart by accident and now I have to start again every time).

you know how easy it is to replace a battery backup, right?

and then people wonder why its easier to use a flashcart

Shouldn't have to replace the battery though, if i've paid full price through ebay i expect a decent product, not one that will need me to open it up and replace parts after a month.

Since all her previous transactions are recorded through ebay i think they should get all the people together to sue her for their money back.
