Blind teenager owns the competition

CNN has the remarkable story of Brice Mellen, blind from birth, but a hardcore gamer who can knock around anyone who dares challenge him.

Mellen hangs out any chance he gets at the DogTags Gaming Center in Lincoln, which opened last month. Every now and then someone will come in and think he can easily beat the blind kid.

That attitude doesn't faze Mellen.

"I'll challenge them, maybe. If I feel like a challenge," he said, displaying an infectious confidence. "I freak people out by playing facing backwards."

Wow. Some people just have a natural talent for something and don't seem to be fazed by the largest of obsticles! That really is amazing.

Yeah thats pretty amazing! I would have thought accurate surround sound would be a considerable advantage to him but the article doesnt really explain how he manages to navigate levels?

It seems to just be predictable games, like Asteroids and fighting games, if he is good with teh combos he could pull of specials paralysing his openents (though the only one they interview has played him before)
