    ABIT Fatal1ty X800 XL 512MB!

What do you get when you subject a RADEON X800 XL GPU to the ABIT Fatal1ty treatment?

    Well, this.

    Nice box art, what.

    Looks lovely, doesn't it?

We wonder what the button on the left-hand side does

Explicit fan control, core and memory voltage manipulation, one-click turbocharged performance, to name but a few features.

Ain't that the BIOS switching button to swap BIOSES when wanting "extreme" performance

As for connections - it is bizarre how they have D-SUB and DVI - why did they not take the route of several other named card makers and have it Dual DVI with D-SUB convertors for the folks with CRT's and other D-SUB driven displays ?

If it's as good as the rest of the "F" line then it should be a good performer

Wasn't convinced with the Fatal1ty motherboard, doesnt look like I would be with this card either. 512mb is just not needed right now (he says with a 7800GTX).

I would like to see what the benchies are like though.

yeah the 6800ultra proved that 512mb doesnt make the slightest bit of difference for the money you spend

I think it worked well in Doom 3 but that was about it, twice the price for one poop of a game. Still it will future proof the card a bit when games are looking for more than 256, but by GPU's will have advanced far beyond what anything of today and so it really is a unique card for a bad reason.

Is it worth the extra £200? Nope. Better to get 2 6800GTs and SLI them.

A 512 card really is pointless now.

I wonder how much cash Fatal1ty made with this latest venture?

I hate that guy. Hes the jamie oliver of gaming. Hes just a spoilt kid! and looks like the kiddo from charlie and the chocolate factory.

I have a X800XL, same GPU as this card shown, and I doubt its any different!

Yeah, the HEXUS crew have met him. Really nice guy, down to earth, making the most of a great opportunity afforded to him. As for it not being a 'proper' job, well that's just shortsightedness.

If you found that you were awesome at online games, surely you would take any opportunity that came your way to do exactly the same thing. Mr. Wendel isn't short of a few quid these days, travels and sees the world, meets new people all the time and does all that while doing what he enjoys the most.

I can see how that might be 'annoying' to some, but I'd file it under jealousy! And if the marketing side of his life bugs you, don't buy the products!
