GC 2005: Saints Row X360 - Hands On

Yo, play-er... Wassup, homes? Y'all seen dis new gangsta game for da X360? I ain't frontin', it's blazin'! Fo' shizzle me nizzle.

Saints Row is a much more open type of game. There’s a story driven plotline that requires you to do certain missions within the game, but unlike GTA:SA, you have a total free hand as to how you go about those missions, or whether you even bother with them at all.

Everything from the map, to the fonts and the icons, look like they were lifted out of GTA.

You sure it aint a TC Nick?!

Apart from the fact it looks a damn site better.

I was really annoyed by the way GTA:SA was just a port of the PS2 game, no graphics improvements at all.

    Wouldn't mind seeing ingame tho.

Oh dear.....guess there was a reason I've always preferred PC games; the general lack of "moron" factor

I know I'll be flamed and I'm the first to admit there are some quality console games out there but titles like this leave me cold. I guess it's the same reason I listen to Aeromsith over 50 Cent

    Not gonna flame you here!

How do you mean it leaves you feeling cold?

Is it due to the game content? If so, just remember that this events do have a factual basis, there are people that grow up in these kind of environments, tho without the rocket launchers.

It's mainly the theme of the game. I realise that there are people who grew up in these kind of environments but I just don't like the way gang warfare is glorified. Then again as I said earlier it's probably just me, I'm not really a fan of the culture. It's almost a mockery of the people who have had to endure it.

I can understand that point of view (bloody annoying when you can always see every side of an argument) the main problem I have with this genre isn't the games themselves its the people that play them.

People that are too young or people that aren't fully secure mentally to hold onto reality that they believe the games are real.

Well said. As games become more immersive the line between fantasy and reality becomes blurred. It's a dangerous thing given the kind of society we live in

I can't understand how the line can be blurred SOOO much that you get them completely mixed up.

If I believe i played my life through a keypad or joystick I must have had the worst upbringing ever.

lol, I know what you mean but there are some scary folks out there who leave their kids to do whatever they like without any guidance. God help us when they reach adulthood

Just wait for fully immersive, surround picture and sound games with full tactile feedback... THAT'LL confuse those with their doors already slightly unhinged...
