Apple to keep PowerPC chips for a while yet

As we all know, Apple are moving onto x86 based processors. However, The Inquirer reports that they've just signed a deal with Freescale to receive PowerPC chips until late 2007.

These types were being sold OS 9 bootable machines long after they disappeared from the shops. It is suspected they will be buying PowerPCs for a few years yet.

Then of course there's warranty fulfilment; Apple will need PowerPC chips in case any Mac still under warranty goes awry.
