Dell launches flash MP3 player

Dell wants to take on Apple's iPod. From The Inquirer:

The DJ Ditty is the same price as the Shuffle and has 512MB of memory, but Dell is marketing its audio toy as storing 220 songs compared with the Shuffle’s 120.

Dell claims that it has a more efficient compression technique, although it does not say what effect this technique has on the final sound quality. It says the 220 figure is based on 64kbps WMA encoding for each song so to an audiophile that is really pants

Somehow I don't see Dell's player being quite as 'trendy' as the iPod, sadly.

Ok lets see..thats:

- Poor support...a rather odd manual as well.
- The storage is packed with useless plugins and pre-installs.
- Upon connecting to your PC, it off loads said pre-installs.
- One big mutha of a dell gem badge on one side
- Weak casing - dell PC-esc.
- If you want a headphone jack, you'll have to shell out more £££.
- Oh and err headphones - again separate buy.
- Did I mention paying for support?

Well I think its better than the Ishuffle.
It has a screen for a start.

Why are people already saying its going to be crap? Just because it doesnt have your precious apple i<product> branding all over it and its not made out of white plastic...

Give it a chance at least. I think it will probably be quite nice tbh.
