Totally misleading thread titles rock.
Just a quick pipeline from me today to show off something that arrived on Saturday morning. Given the recent advent of graphics accelerators that have enough texel and shader rate to drive modern games at resolutions greater than UXGA (1600x1200), I've been in dire need of a display to let me do so for HEXUS.
The two LCDs I've been using for the last year or so have topped out at 1600x1200 and 1280x1024 respectively. While 1280x1024 is the most popular resolution for shipping displays today, there's always going to be a set of users with the ability to go higher on their monitors and these days 1600x1200 isn't that realistic upper limit we need to cater for.
So I put in a request for something bigger recently, David did the required behind the scenes magic on my behalf and Dell UK came up with the goods. Awesome.
Same vertical resolution as my own Philips 200P4SS, the new Dell 2405FPW display fits nicely along side giving me the 44.1 inches of combined diagonal screen space the thread title hints at. Native resolution, as you probably know, is 1920x1200 and I'm enjoying the extra pixels already. I'm a workflow and workspace perfectionist, so I'm a happy guy right now with the two side by side.
I'll have a short review up soon with it showing up in a bunch of graphics articles in the future too. Hopefully Dell don't want it back too quickly since I'll have to buy one of my own when they do, it's that good.
