DDR2 demand hindered by chipset shortage

What's going on in the world of RAM right now? We're in a kind of limbo phase between DDR and DDR2, where one platform (AMD) doesn't yet support it, and another (Intel) has for some time. Despite Intel's DDR2-based systems, are we seeing smaller than expected demand for DDR2?

The problem is that when it came out it cost loads. Now its has come down in price but it just does not offer a performance boost, people would prefer a nice A64. To be fair though i m mainly talkiing about the non OEM market

I am actually finding that since running the DDR2 in my system I have seen performance increases, Not only that, but Crucial offer the DDR2 at a cheaper price to DDR, for myself its been a great investment, so much so I think I am going to add in some more soon

I wish my system could use DDRII. Its available in large sizes for less money with less of a performance hit for the large sizes

I think the delay in DDR2 taking off is due to the need for a new mobo, cpu, graphis card and likely a psu - basically the guts of your pc.

I'll stick with s478 until I encounter a new game that needs the next gen (Q4 & FEAR are fine on a decent s478 rig).
