    Post NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS

The GS was launched yesterday and unfortunately we didn't have the resources available to cover it (I wasn't in the office over the weekend, sadly). Based on NV42, the 425/500 clocked board has 12 pixel processors, 5 vertex and the ability to render out 8 fully resolved pixels per clock. (Let's call that 12/5/8 for brevity).

The clock advantage the GPU has over the 350/500 GeForce 6800 GT (16/6/16) means that the GS is likely just as quick in a majority of situations. I'll be analysing the board against the GT and a number of other PCI Express-based competitors for our eval.

It's under £185 inc VAT and shipping in the UK if you look hard enough, and if you so choose you can have one in your possession today with availability looking decent.

Look out for our full eval soon.

Looking forward to seeing what it can do. Any chance of a comparison against a gto2? Would like to see how they compare

Yep, PCIe only, at least for the forseeable future. I'll see if I can find a GTO2 for comparo, too.

The one that is linked is the xxx version, quite a bit overclocked.
