Message to Kazaa: Filter copyright material or be shut down

An Australian court has set a deadline of the 5th December for the makers of Kazaa to implement a filter for copyrighted music on its file sharing network. If they don't then they face being closed down.

Kazaa's operators, Sharman Networks, had appealed the judgment. But according to music industry trade group IFPI, the Australian court said that to avoid complete shutdown Kazaa must, as a first step, put in place a keyword filter system within 10 days.

Sharman Networks had said it could not control the actions of an estimated 100 million users.

Or they could introduce the keyword filters, and just not know that everyone will simply change letters to bypass it? Either way Kazaa will be gone eventually....
