Well, Microsoft's Corporate Vice President & CFO Home & Entertainment, (how long is HIS business card?), Bryan Lee, reckons it is... just.

Kinda contradicts what the devs have been saying, i.e. that the PS3 is more powerful, but the 360 is easier to program..

Its funny how MS say the 360 is more powerful. Bet Sony are saying the same things(that the PS3 is more powerful). I rather believe the game developers than the hype coming from both camps. If fact ID head bloke (Carmack?) has already stated that the PS3 is more powerful, but the 360 is easier to program for. Anyways its all just willy waving.
Roll on the Revolution, at least the big N aren't getting involved in this type of rubbish.
Agreed but the claims from Devs: just a souped up XBox doesn't excite me at all really seeing as I don't find many Nintendo games to float my boat (apart from the classic Goldeneye)

LOL "mines bigger and better than yours" type thing?
Sony will hopefully they have a bit better launch with the PS3 than microsoft did with the 360. Its seems that at least 10 times more people wanted the xbox than actually got one, if not more! Im seriously considering just sticking with my PC and PS2 until the PS3 release. I was meant to get a 360 on friday but someone signed for it on my behalf and nicked off with it, maybe that was fate?!![]()
I'm doing the same. Gonna wait fir the PS3, and stick with PC and PS2 for the next year.
What a sneaky fecker! I bet whoever done it sold it on ebay for an extra £100 onto the RRP!Originally Posted by chriswood_7
I think, in a wierd way, this proves the PS3, "from a hardware standpoint" will indeed be faster. Think about it, it's a Microsoft employee saying it. If the Xbox 360 was actually, genuinely, expected to faster, they'd be shouting it from the rooftops and have it in every press release from now till kingdom come (Much like how the Xbox was publicised against the PS2.) For them to be saying this early on that the PS3 has "a couple of categories where they outdo us" shows that hopefully something special is happening at Sony.
But then, it could indeed go the way of the Xbox/PS2, but in reverse this time. PS2 (360) gets released first, and gets all its programmers going hard at it to get games out. Then the Xbox (PS3) comes out with much faster hardware, which the parent company MS (Sony) touts as a revolution.
However, in my opinion at least, the PS2 was the better console, simply due to the games, which are truly the heart of any console. Yes, the Xbox can do Linux/XBMC etc, but if I want multimedia stuff that's what I have a PC for. If I buy a console I want good games and plenty of them.
Am I putting forward the above as some sort of wayward proof that the 360 will be better because of a twisted repitition of history? No. An idle philosophy? Aye.

lmao! but then microsoft are always trying to make out their the best and most powerfull!
like windows for example...
it is crap but people use it only because every comericial app runs on it (well mostly) and this is because windows does everything for you (but badly) and the only reason this applys is because people cannot be bothered/don't want to learn linux.
Useable power is always greater than theoretical power. More importantly, why is it so important that one console is more powerful than the other, for one its not like a PC and going to change every 6 months, so developers can tap out the max potential of each system, more to the point game developers cant afford to take risks anymore so you get the same old c**p fps month in month out...
Lol, thanks. It appears I failed though, as the post was supposed to be in general pro-Sony, but heh, grist to the mill.Originally Posted by bertie
