Fine out more.Easy-to-use "Progression Desktop" allows users to transfer e-mail, files and settings from Windows to Linux
SAN DIEGO and SANTA BARBARA, Calif., December 22, 2005 – Versora and Linspire, Inc. today announced the release of Versora's Progression Desktop for Linspire. This easy-to-use migration tool allows users to transfer files and settings from their Windows machine to a Linux machine, moving critical data, application settings, email, calendar entries, contact lists, desktop settings and directory structures via a "Click-Next-Next-Finished" interface.
Progression Desktop will be normally priced at $29.95 but through January 31, 2006 is available to Linspire CNR subscribers for a special introductory price of $14.95 and to CNR Gold subscribers for $9.95.
Interestingly, Versora looks to be running an ultra-low-cost deal at the moment on its standard Progression Desktop - just US£9.99. And this is said to support Linspire 5!
Go figure.
The standard version is reckoned to support migrations
From Win 98, NT, 2000, and XP
To Fedora Core 3 & 4, Linspire 5, Novell Linux Desktop 9, Red Hat Desktop 4, Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 4, SimplyMEPIS 3.3.1, SUSE Professional 9.3, Turbolinux 10, and other Linux distributions.
