Craig not bond!

Angry James Bond fans are drumming up support for boycotting the next James Bond film, Casino Royale, due to the new actor who will be stepping into Bond's shoes. Craignotbond.com questions the ejection of Brosnan from the role and is concerned about EON's choice of replacement.

How can a short, blond actor with the rough face of a professional boxer and a penchant for playing killers, cranks, cads and gigolos pull off the role of a tall, dark, handsome and suave secret agent?

I'll probably watch it to give him the benefit of the doubt first, you never know having a hard looking bond might actually work for a change.

I thought that the change in Dr Who might not work, but no - it did so I'll reserve judgement until then.

Oh and as for being short and blonde, you know that hairdye and cameras can work wonders nowadays

good grief. Still have to hope it's just the usual vocal minority and that the silent majority will still go along and enjoy the film Give to guy a chance! It'd be nice to see bond in a new light again, after all some people ahem thought the living daylights was a really good film I think I've seen him in a few roles and he was a good actor...

...on the flipside I have to say that, imho, Brosnan was the ultimate (suave) bond.

I liked Dalton, him and Brosnan have been my fave Bonds so far. Goldeneye was written for Dalton iirc, would of been interesting to see what would of happened if he had been able to do it...

It depends on what you'd class as bond - I tend to picture bond from the books where is isn't a very nice person. Which he has style , he was utterly ruthless - Brosnan was pretty close to this , but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Craig was good in layer cake, so there is potential for him to reach par.

Sean Connery, Tim Dalton, & Brosnan are the best IMO, Craig to me, doesn't look like Bond at the moment, but we'll see what makeup and wardrobe can do for him..

I think the problem with Bond films lately isnt down to Pierce Brosnon but fairly naff scripts and dire story lines.

They need to get back to basis, good script and story then introduce the gadjets "Q" and "M" then mix in a few random quips and there you have it.

I think Brosnon himself recently has admitted being far from happy with the scripts and stories he was asked to do.

I think Daniel Craig will do quite well, he was very good indeed in Layer cake

I have to say, I liked Dalton, but the scripts he was given were fairly carp; Dr. Who was mentioned above, and I'd liken it to Sylvester McCoy syndrome - an actor who had the potential to be excellent in the role snafu-ed by absolutely DIRE writing. Craig has a lot of potential - certainly in the books Bond's basically a bastard, and possibly psychopathic as well.
