Will be very interesting to see if Dell will take this chance to embrace Alienware, or if they are just buying them for the name.

I wonder if all the AMD Alienware models will now be replaced with Intel equivalents

or it might be a ploy for Dell to make even more money by allowing them to sell AMD systems under the Alienware name

it wouldnt suprise me, keep Dell customers happy with the Intel badge but branch out into AMD machines under Alienware, sounds plausable

I hope alienware get sane pricing!

I mean seriously, my housemate last year had an alienware laptop, a clevo re-badged.
Cost him £1,700 before he came to uni

I had one which had cost £1,600 (we bought it the same month), mine had 0.5gig more ram, and hyperthreading, and m10 graphics vrs his m9, no gigabit etc.

Alienware have little respect from me for anything but conning idoits out of their money (fair play to them i guess).

The last thing we need is Dell trying to take over the enthusiast market. Why Alienware decided to give in is just plain weird IMO.

'why they decided to give in' is probably due to dell offering vast amounts of money for them.

i'd have thought dell will use this oppertunity to branch into the enthusiast market harder - their current gaming systems arent massive sellers.. hopefully this'll make the new alienware stuff cheaper - at the moment dell does make some of the cheapest kit you can buy..

I cant see too much changing here, as long as Alienware keep the customizability of their PCs as it is.

The huge mass production power of Dell may change things as they will start to offer low end machines under the Alienware name with the upped price tag <mi tinks>

Alienware was hardly in the game anyway compared to the likes of Falcon and Voodoo

never understood why people bought alienware desktops as they could be built to the exact same spec for a few hundred pounds cheaper.

QFT - many people do not have a clue what is in a PC, simply it works. Could be run by fairies for all they know...
