    Talk about fast

    Testing of high-end Intel motherboards requires secondary components of a high-end spec too. It stands to reason that we'd want the fastest RAM possible to really try to push the boards. James has sent me a pic of the RAM we're going to be using the HEXUS.labs...

    It's PC8000, or DDR2-1000, which means it's flippin' fast. It's Crucial's Ballistix PC8000, and yes, there's two kits in there, giving a lovely 2GiB.

    Now, a virtual cookie to whoever can guess the model of the motherboard in which the RAM is sat in that picture.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I sure hope the price goes down by the time AM2 arrives

    Ooh, this stuff should really fly in the new AM2 boards- the next revision AMD chips will support 800Mhz DDR2, so this stuff'll go nicely with some good overclocking...

    Will it still support DDR1? Is there really any need for DDR2 even if it can use SATA300?

    yes theres a great need for it , power efficiency !

    its supposed to have 8 slots in the next one and i want it to be as energy efficient as possible

    plus ddr2 is where the market is heading although ddr1 is still massive
