    Lovely colours

Why do Sapphire choose such a strange (yet in my opinion, nice) colour scheme for their enthusiast motherboards? Still, here's their latest creation:

Cue shot of random part of motherboard:

A capacitor doesn't need to be stood straight up to work right :/

As long as it hasn't snapped off...

Yes, very similar (if not identical) to ATi's Manta reference board & currently £140.
There is also the A9RD580adv which has an extra PCI & is on a black PCB ~£95.

The ASUS 32x boards get slated for their poor positions of the PCIe slots restricting how many PCI adapters can be used... this one looks quite horrific... it's only got 1 PCI slot and that blocked off in Crossfire mode... where's my XFI gonna go? :\

When will motherboard manufacturers learn we want more than one usable PCI slot on our high end SLI / Crossfire mobos.
XFI sound cards / capture cards and possibly physx cards in the future.
Whats the point in going wiht such a high end machine if you can use a high end sound card / physx card / capture card?

Cant they just put the firstvga card slot at the very top, leave 2 spaces and put the next one, then theres room for 3 PCI slots at the bottom?

    I know

When I get an Agiea Physx card I'm going to have to remove the PCI TV tuner card when I want to use it.

Yea, ill be able to squeeze one into my rig but the vid card above it will be very tight for airflow especialy with it having to be single slot :/
Lets hope they bring out a PCI-E 1x version, that way ill be able to slot it in above the top vid cards.

Gets me that they even put on PCI-E 1x slots, whats the point at the moment? surley it cant be to hard to just use standard PCI slots instead?

Legacy ports - who needs them?

..... well actually I do, along with lots of people... I need to connect a Bendix-King SkyMap IIIc GPS to my computer, and need an old fashion, simple serial port to do so..... or is that what is on the remote header??
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

isnt the bottom slot for ati mobos the master slot anyway? thus making the pci slot unusual. or can you insert it in the top 16x pci-e slot anyway if you only have 1 graphics card?

Yes & it's a pain although you can just about use the next slot depending upon hardware config.

As I have said already there is a less extreme & cheaper Sapphire A9RD580adv with 2 PCI slots
    http://www.sapphiretech.com/en/produ.../142image4.jpg

The A9RD580 above is an out & out stripped down overclocker/bencher's board.

kempez, "R580 Sapphire Pure Innovation motherboard" apparently not going to happen (I think it's a shame too that nobody is doing a single x16 slot RD580 board afaik)

we're going to start seeing "quad" slot graphics cards- or something equally as rediculous... so time to start thinking about external PCI slots tbh. (BTW that board is teh sex!)
