Get ThinkFree Office V3 cheap - but only for a few hours!

The £24.99 special price (inc VAT and delivery) being offered for ThinkFree Office 3 by online reseller CompuTrolley looks set to end in a few hours when it rises by £10.

So, if you fancy a copy of this three-program Java-based MS-Office-compatible suite, get in quick - the boxed version, with CD and quick-start guide, is currently around a fiver less than buying the $49.95 downloadable version from ThinkOffice's own site! What you get for your money are three programs - one compatible with Word, one with Excel and one with Powerpoint.

Dive over to this HEXUS.headline to get the buying link.

You can download (70MB) and try it yourself (the trial is good for 30 days) but I'm not sure you'll be able to make a sensible evaluation before CompuTrolley increases its price.

I've used it, its much better than OO imo, but still not up there with MS office. However the price difference is staggering, and unlike OO, i find this is actually useable.

    One little comment.

I don't know how many PCs you're allowed to install ThinkFree Office on but if it's only one, then the price doesn't look quite so wonderful (especially when the price rises by £10) compared to the educational (Student & Teacher) version of MS Office 2003.

That can be installed on three PCs and costs £85 all up from Amazon UK.

Oh, and it has Outlook 2003 in there too (but no PDF-creation capabilities).

Java-based? That rings some danger bells for me - I suspect it uses lots of memory and is rather slow, like many Java applications (think Azureus?)

Just in case anyone is interested - looks like that cheap deal is still available on CompuTrolley's site.

I reckon the company's web master must be taking an extended Easter break!
