well it's certainly an... unexpected... rename.
i still miss Project Reality
"We are the knights of wii"
Hahaha, it sounds like an april fools joke. Especially as wii wouldnt be written we
but actually wee if you translate it... Genius.
Bad renmae in my opinion.
Revolution sounded so much better.
They're taking the p!ss
Worst name for a console (make that product) EVER, even beats Viiv for pointless nonsence. My god, even 'Go' was better than that. Maybe it's the Nintendo Go Wii?
Customer in shop - "I want a Wii..."
Oh how we (Wii?) laugh. It's so funny, it's not even funny. I can see a major backlash from the Nintendo fanboys coming on.

it's a great PR stunt if nothing elseIt gives nintendo a lot of media attention (albeit not for the best reasons), and could make some more people aware of the console (free advertising essentially)
Still I agree it's a poo name, revolution was much better...it's a shame that some of the code names sound better than the finals, dolphin was much better than gamecube imho![]()
Does Wii mean something credible in japanese? Cus it sounds ridiculous in English.
Not that it would stop me buying one. I'd like to have a Wii in my living room.
HEXUS|iMc
in Japanese its ウィー
Which is uii, there is no wi sound in japanese.
The only time I have seen ウィー is as a name like for Michelle Wie.
It doesnt exist in Japanese
Why are codenames always better than the actrual names. Maybe they need to pay marketing departments more. "Revolution" would be a good name. And Vista wasn't exactly a great name, but I guess compared to XP. Maybe we just need to get used to sucky names like "MacBook". Of course none of the above examples are as bad a the buchering of the new Nintendo console's name.
Shigeru Miyamoto back on those magic mushrooms again, never have i seen something with such an utterly stupid name, i thought XBOX360 was stupid but Wii? Fair play to them for not going the sony route and just sticking a number at the end but for god sakes atleast call it something thats actually a word. I think i must be the only person alive that thinks the Wii controller is the biggest gimmick in history, i can see this consle (even with it being priced way cheaper) falling flat on its face, with just the DS keeping it afloat.
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
Wii, will buy it.

Someone just told me that there is a kanji character for wii. I don't know how credible he is. You definately can't write it with one of the syllabaries.Originally Posted by Kumagoro
