RAM, RAM, RAM, and more RAM!

We've managed to get our mitts on some of the tastiest system memory available today.

    Crucial

In no particular order, we have:

    DDR1

    2GB (2x1GB) - PC3200 - CL3
    1GB (2x512MB) - PC3200 - CL2
    1GB (2x512MB) - PC3200 - CL3

    DDR2

    2GB (2x1GB) - PC2 4200 - CL4
    1GB (2x512MB) PC2 5300 - CL4
    1GB (2x512MB) PC2 4200 - CL4

    Corsair

    DDR1

    2GB (2x1GB) TwinX XMS4400Pro - 3-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) TwinX XMS4400C25PT - 2.5-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) Xpert XMS3200XL - 2-2-2-5

    DDR2

    2GB (2x1GB) Twin2X XMS6400Pro - 5-5-5-12
    1GB (2x512MB) Twin2X XMS5400UL - 3-2-2-8

    OCZ

    DDR1

    2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 - Dual CH Value Series - 3-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 - Dual CH Value Series - 2.5-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 - EL Dual CH Gold Edition - 2-2-2-5
    1GB (2x512MB) PC3500 - EL Dual CH Gold Edition GX - 2-2-2-5
    1GB (2x512MB) PC4800 - EL Dual CH Elite Platinum Edition - 2.5-4-4-10
    (2-2-2-5 @ DDR400)
    1GB (2x512MB) PC4800 - EL Dual CH Elite Platinum Edition - 2.5-4-4-10

    DDR2

    2GB (2x1GB) PC2 4200 - Dual CH Value Pro Series - 4-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) PC2 4200 - Dual CH Value Pro Series - 4-4-4-8
    1GB (2x512MB) PC2 5400 - EL Dual CH Gold Edition - 4-4-4-8

    A collection of other modules

    DDR1

    1GB - (2x512MB) - Patriot PDC2G3200 PC3200 XBLK - 2-2-2-5
1GB (2x512MB) Mushkin XP4000 Redline - Latency unknown right now
    1GB (2x512MB) G.Skill PC3200 - 2-2-2-5 (and 2.5-4-4-8 @ PC4400)
    1GB (2x512MB) G.Skill F1 PC4400 - 2.5-4-4-8

    DDR2

    2GB (2x1GB) Mushkin XP2-6400 - 5-3-3-8
    1GB - (2x512MB) - Patriot PDC21G5600 XLBK - PC5600 @ 4-3-3-12

We're going to be posing a few questions.

Is it worthwhile opting for high-priced, high-performance memory on decent Athlon 64 and Intel LGA775 platforms?

Most manufacturers make the claim that they are the best in the world but who really is?

Which memory responds best to voltages?

Is there a real difference between the manufacturers, or is it mere hyperbole?

Also, they have a special "top" which you can affix the LED Strip to and this allows messages scrolling on your memory

I have stuff like speed, temps, uptime and then rude words showing on mine @ home.

We're in contact with Crucial right now. We're trying to get a selection of Tracer modules into the shootout.

I feel that this could be a very important important article in the good ol' latency vs. bandwidth vs. neither argument.

Well, I'm glad that's not my job! You'll have to let us know how many hours it takes just for testing - have fun
