    Strange new processors at SCAN

We stumbled accross a number of new processors listed over at SCAN today, 19 of them, no less. They carry "AM2" in their name, which is apparently some new-fangled DDR-2 supporting type of processor & socket from AMD.

OK, so you've read plenty about AM2 already, and you probably know it's arriving on the 23rd, which means SCAN have them listed a tad early, although they're not 'in stock' at the moment.

We recommend you wait until or after launch day before placing orders.
Still, between now and the official launch, you might want to take a look at SCAN's line-up of AM2 processors to see just what they should be stocking come Tuesday.

Processors not much good without a mobo though

Prics pretty much as expected, though i suppose they may change before the actual launch, being just a bit more than the equivalently rated 939's

They are tempting, interesting that it seems a top to bottom socket rather than palming off 939 for the Semprons.

    *Here's a clue anyway: They're not Socket-7.

p.s. will scan have socket AM2 3rd party coolers e.g. Akasa etc for sale from launch date?

    thanks

Socket types, i.e. original Anthlon (K7) were Socket A, Semprons are typically 754.
Also their clock speeds are slightly different as well.
