I guess really, As the first 2 they made were such good sellers they seem to think that they can just ride on through a sweep all the buyers off their feet.Originally Posted by joshwa

My first choice is the "Wii"/revolution. This seems to be the most "fun" of all the consoles from what information has been releasedreally cant wait
As for Sony, Maybe when they have revised things a little, Then again if they release FF7 remake for PS3... I wont be able to stop myself... cost will not matter I WILL have that game no matter what it takes![]()

It will sell.
Luckily us Internet users get to see what goes on behind the scenes so we can make a balanced opinion. Unfortunately the same can't be said to those people who don't use the net very often and rely on PS3 magazines for their 'unbiased' *coughs* info on the PS3.
No doubt it will sell well whatever. I'm sure it will still be a great console - I just don't like their attitude, and unless I get one free *coughs loudly* I doubt I'll get one - Wii all the way!

dunno though, my boss today said that she had heard that the PS3 wasnt supposed to be great and she only ever uses the internet for holidays and her sons homework...
To be honest, the XBox 360 has an entire year's head start on the PS3... that is going to take a MASSIVE chnk out of Sony's market share.
Now look at the casual gamer. He bought a PS2 for £129 (the price they were at for longest). What's he going to do this time around? £150 (ish) for the Wii or THREE times that for the PS3?
Nope, the casual gamer isn't going to spring over £400 for a console. He'll either walk away and wait for a price drop as he'll see new gam,es still coming out for the PS2, or Nintendo will market the Wii as they've done witht he Ds and he'll buy that instead.
And Blue-Ray? Mr Joe Public has not got a clue what Blue-Ray and HD DVD is all about. In fact, Mr Joe Public has not even got a TV that can take advantage of the hi-def formats. In fact, 95% of the folks on HEXUS.forums haven't got a TV that can make use of HD content.
I completely agree with everything you have saidOriginally Posted by Nick

even if mr Joe Public decides he wants a high spec console, without knowing the ful differences, he will go for the 360 due to the huge price gap.
Ayup.
Of course, we could look at it another way.
Take Mr Casual Gamer. He's maybe got a family, or he has a mortgage and bills to pay. In short, he doesn't have a massive amount of spare cash so he has to budget.
He can spare £50 a month. (or maybe that's what a younger gamer can save from a paper round or something)
So, save for three months and get a Wii.
Or save for NINE months to get a PS3.
Sony reckon that price difference isn't going to make a difference. Nor the lack of games support at launch due to delays. They're partially right. The fanboy user base WILL buy the PS3 regardless and then very likely, (once the crowing about how they got one on launch day has died down), they'll start moaning about how it's not as good as they thought and they want some decent games to play.
Oh, and don't forget that Sony have slipped by some months already on a launch date so I'd be mildly shaocked if there's a UK launch by Christmas... leaving the market open wide AGAIN for Xbox 360.
nintendo aren't going to be able to much to curtale the PS3, enless they drastically chance their advertising campain. They've been trying with the whole ch4 comedy adverts thing, but i don't think its working.
The PS1 had pressense in clubs, i remeber when it first came out they where in cool places i was far too young to go.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
Aye, but the PS2 brought console gaming to the masses. Folks are aware of consoles now, gaming on your telly is far bigger than when the PS2 was launched... ANd with MS behind thew XBox 360, I bet they can stick more advertising bucks behind their machine than Sony could ever dream of doing.Originally Posted by directhex

Seem to remember a large part of the Dreamcasts failiure coming down to marketing failiures and lack of awareness.. of course overshadowed by the doubt cast by the Saturn era. Remember the advert in the barber shop with the guy getting a swirl shaved into his head? Sure, Joe understood what that was all about..Originally Posted by directhex
PS3 will likely be pulled through by it's exclusives, brand awareness, and marketing power. Many will find the exclusives hard to resist, though I imagine i'd get the PS2 feeling with this one - bought a launch console.. bought a shedload of games, couldn't get rid of the 'been there, done that' feeling and sold it within a year. Didn't miss it!.
Dreamcast still has it's permenant position next to my tv, ofc!
