I've been thinking about upgrading to the X2 3800.
Haven't got time to read them all, but I checked out the Toms guide, and after reading it, TBH I'm probably going to go for the 939 version.
It seems that, on the lower spec X2s, the DDR1 systems are actually slightly faster than the DDR2. Also one thing I noticed at first was that the 3800 single core was getting better results than the 3800 dual core on a lot of the gaming tests, but when I got to the video encoding / rendering benchies, which is what I'll be using the CPU power for, the dually beats the single core hard.
Sticking with 939 has its advantages - now there's a newer platform out, the prices should go down a bit. Upgradability isn't really an issue, because I go for years without upgrading, so i'd have to change everything anyway.
