Gaming in the 2008 Olympics?

Sounds pretty far fetched, huh?

Apparently not, the Global Gaming league are apparently in discussions with Chinese authorities to bring competitive gaming to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Mind you, discussion is one thing, implementing the idea is another.

It certainly is a popular 'sport' in China these days, though it'd be quite an erratic one surely? I mean, would each country have to have 'heats' to decide who they put forward to represent? Also, it would mean the removal and launch of different competitions every 2 or 3 years, surely something the Olympic committee couldn't manage?

It'll probably become a championship thing in the future, but I can't see it being incorporated into the Olympics.
