The TalkTalk home phone and free broadband service looks to have got off to a flying start. According to the preliminary annual financial report of parent company Carphone Warehouse, 340,000 customers registered for free broadband for life in the first eight weeks to June 5.

Carphone Warehouse says that it is on schedule to have its own gear installed into 200 local exchanges by July when its free broadband service begins - the longer-term target is 1,000 by May 2007.

I saw this on the news as well, seems too good to be true?

It sounds as if they've launched the marketing campaign without implementing the necessary systems or having enough staff to cope with demand - much like Bulldog did.

I'd expect long waiting times to get through to customer service. Anyone took advantage of this, I'd be interested to know people's experiences as I'm looking to change my broadband provider.
