    Servers at Wimbledon

    We're talking computers here, not players. ZDNet have taken a tour with IBM to see just how the company handles the complex task of handling the communications for the event, from TV streams to serving speeds.
    IBM has the contract to cover many tennis events, so its tennis team is nomadic. They arrive on-site with just one week to set up their equipment, spend two weeks working and then have a week to tear everything down and move on.
    [ZDNet]

    It's more interesting than the tennis, at least (sorry tennis fans )
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Love the fact that even though its a worldwide event, with a worldwide computer company in charge of the data transmission, theres still a lil kid who in all likeliness after the first week will be bored out of his mind having to move pieces of card all day, love it!

    Interesting read, even more interesting (to me) is the fact that all this equipment is hired in from IBM set up in a week, used and then ripped out in a week! I know there's some gucci stuff they must use but surely they could afford it as a permanent fixture?
