*scurries off to check DS Lite*
Nope mine's fine, no cracks as far as I can see. Will ask my mate in work tomorrow whether his is okay.
Had me worried for a moment there!
P.S Nice title by the way Steve
Yup - my black DS lite is looking fine so far <touch wood> Seems like it is indeed a manufacturing defect judging by the number of threads about this across the net.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
Will check our ones in the shop tomorow, they certenly get abused abit There right though it would'nt be covered as faulty as they werent sold like that. The customer would have to get onto nintendo themselfs about it. Which looks like it'll be fine with Nin
Apparently, they reckon the black ones are okay.

Ouch. Looks kinda like the crack I have on the hinge on my old laptop, 'cept not as severe I'll definitely keep an eye out for one on my DS lite.
Worlds worst headline award goes to...
Mine seems OK at the moment too. It's a bit worrying though. Looks like it's mostly the White ones too judging from the photos I've seen.
Are the cracks not appearing on the black ones, or are they just harder to see?
How many products do we see hitting the market now but after a short time defects of one kind or another seem to appear.
Is this because they are rushed to market ?
Had a look round Mike and I can't see anyone complaining about the black ones at all. It must have been a certain batch. The main bulk of faulty ones seem to have surfaced in the U.S and Japan.

It's not as bad then if it's just a faulty batch. If it's an actual design flaw, that would have been more serious.Originally Posted by Steven W
sorry to dig this thread up, but having checked mine yesterday night it has one! same place as everyone else on the net seems to have, left hand side in about a 1/2 to 2/3 along (from facing it as you would play it)
having looked at the reports on the net it says that the big N will fix them FOC (they better have/replace them as it is clearly an inherent design flaw) however Nintendo UK say that people still have to pay :S
I am still waiting a reply from the big N as to what they are going to do about the matter with mine....methinks if they dont offer to fix it for free (and its not flashed and was recently bought) that I am going to kick up a huge fuss about it
